Students in Mrs. Dillon's Reading class, along with all other 3rd grade classes, have been busy studying Water Conservation & Pollution. The unit concludes with a Project Based Assessment, where students research additional information in order to create a public service announcement, with the goal of educating others about why water is important, ways to conserve water, and how to prevent water pollution. Students were then given the opportunity to present their announcement to the class. Students had the choice to create a poster, a flyer, a brochure, or a booklet. Watch out world! The next group of conservationists are learning how to keep you clean and healthy!

They viewed the art piece “Town of Hope” by Archibald Motley Jr. and discussed the Great Migration of African Americans to the north, fleeing persecution in the south. Students had the opportunity to talk about characterization of the people in the piece and emotional connections to art.
