Students in Mrs. Dillon's Reading class, along with all other 3rd grade classes, have been busy studying Water Conservation & Pollution. The unit concludes with a Project Based Assessment, where students research additional information in order to create a public service announcement, with the goal of educating others about why water is important, ways to conserve water, and how to prevent water pollution. Students were then given the opportunity to present their announcement to the class. Students had the choice to create a poster, a flyer, a brochure, or a booklet. Watch out world! The next group of conservationists are learning how to keep you clean and healthy!
Mrs. Murdock and Ms. Heaney’s fourth grade reading class had a virtual field trip with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in celebration of Black History Month. They viewed the art piece “Town of Hope” by Archibald Motley Jr. and discussed the Great Migration of African Americans to the north, fleeing persecution in the south. Students had the opportunity to talk about characterization of the people in the piece and emotional connections to art.
Mrs. Bopp's reading class earned a prize for being safe, kind and responsible. They voted on playing with shaving cream! Students enjoyed smearing, drawing and writing. For a bonus, the room smelled so fresh when we were done!
Mrs. Beard’s class has been practicing identifying coins. Students worked in groups to come up with facts about each coin and then presented their posters.
One of Mrs. Lee’s math groups is busy working with tens and ones to build numbers on the hundreds chart. They are composing and comparing the numbers.
Yesterday, Mrs. Frack’s Pre-K Class began their Creative Curriculum Ball Study. Over the next several weeks, they will build upon their background knowledge of various kinds of balls to complete activities that will help them dive deeper into math, science, early literacy, social/emotional, and motor development skills. The Culpeper County School Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed fiscal 2025 budget for Culpeper County Public Schools on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the County Administration Office, 302 N. Main Street. Parents and citizens are encouraged to provide input regarding their views of the educational needs of our students and priorities of our school division.
The School Board believes strongly that community input is vital to the budget process. All concerned Culpeper County citizens are encouraged to attend the School Budget Public Hearing.

Ms. Butterfield’s Class attended a stem zone activity yesterday that focused on math skills. They sorted, counted and balanced conversation hearts. It was hard to keep from eating the candy manipulatives.
ACE 5 students are designing and building toothpick bridges. In another decade, these four builders may be engineers!
In honor of Black History Month, 5th grader, Oliver Lilius wrote a beautiful essay about how Ruby Bridges inspires him. Way to go, Oliver!
Mrs. Rozwadowski's 4th and 5th grade students worked on this amazing Year of the Dragon mural, and one stallion dressed up for the special occasion! Happy Lunar New Year!
I think it is safe to say that Super Bowl Spirit Day was a success! We filled lots of "blank space" with Swifties, and football stars alike! Enjoy the big game this weekend, stallions!
Tomorrow, all of our stallions will have the opportunity to watch our production of "The Jungle Book". If you haven't picked out your outfit for tomorrow, wear something green in honor of this fun event!
As Valentine’s Day approaches, Yowell SCA will be selling cute, little wooden hearts with the goal of “Spreading the Love.” Buy them to give to your friends, teachers, family members, other special people, or maybe leave a heart somewhere for someone to find!! They are the perfect size to put in a pocket, purse, or wallet.
