Mrs. Malone's kindergartners enjoyed some "i"ce pops in celebration of the letter "i" for the end of year alphabet countdown! Learning is fun and delicious at Yowell!

Don't have plans for dinner Wednesday night? How about supporting Yowell Elementary School's 5th graders and joining us for dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings? Buffalo Wild Wings will donate a portion of your bill to our fifth-grade class! Please remember to drop your receipt in the basket before you leave. We hope you can make it!

Yowell represented at the Regional Math 24 tournament in Orange! Anish Mishra, Parker Pratt, and Zane Yost all made it to the 4th and final round of the competition! The final rankings were Zane Yost - 3rd place (3rd grade), Parker Pratt - 3rd place (5th grade), and Anish Mishra - 1st place (5th grade). Congratulations to all of the participants!! Go Stallions!!

Ms. Lockridge's class enjoyed a visit from the baby chicks before spring break. It was a wonderful experience watching the chicks hatch and grow! Thank you to our P.E. teachers, Mrs. Houck and Mr. Harris! The children have also enjoyed our end of the year alphabet countdown as shown in the group picture. It was "B" day, bring your blankets and books to school.

Mrs. Wheeler and her second grade game club members had a blast learning how to play fun board and card games! They practiced important skills like taking turns, following rules, working as a team, and using good sportsmanship. What a fun club to be in!

Mrs. Newcomer's class has enjoyed the past few weeks for sure! Not only did they do a math problem Easter egg hunt, but they got to snuggle our baby chicks while they were here.

Mrs. Woods' class is working hard counting the value of groups of coins in math. Way to go, 2nd graders!

Fourth grade went to Mountain Run Lake Park yesterday for their Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience field trip! Students participated in stations to learn and explore watersheds. They retrieved macro invertebrates (and other organisms) from a creek bed and determined the pollution level based on what they found. They also classified and named them using dichotomous keys. Students also identified producers, consumers, and decomposers during a relay race. Finally, they designed storm drain art to bring awareness to the importance of keeping our watershed healthy. Shout out to Culpeper 4H for leading our students through a watershed simulation to learn more about watersheds and demonstrate how we all live downstream! It was a great day!

🌸 Spring Break Alert! 🌸
Culpeper County Public Schools will be closed for Spring Break from April 14–21, 2025. This includes all schools and administrative offices.
We hope our students, staff, and families enjoy a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled break!
See you Tuesday, April 22, 2025!

Thanks to Mrs. Kilby, Ms Hughes and Mrs. Houck and Mr. Harris, the 4-H Embryology project really came to life this year! Our students got to watch the candling of our eggs, and witnessed our chicks hatching through a live feed set up for our students. All classes got to come up with names for our chicks that were voted on, and each class got to spend a little time with the chicks. What a fun couple of weeks it has been! See the attached pictures to get to know our chicks!

Attention all 5th grade parents! Baby/ toddler pictures for the 5th grade slideshow are due tomorrow. Please email them to Mrs. Dugger at kdugger@ccpsweb.org. See the attachments for more details.
