Bringing literature to life! 📚❤️🖤

8th grade students in Mrs. Rave's class are currently reading Red Kayak. In the novel, the main character joins a search party on the Corsica River and ultimately finds and rescues a 3-year-old boy, performing CPR to help save his life.

Today, students made a real-world connection to the story by learning the basics of CPR and getting hands-on practice in class! Students practiced CPR techniques using both adult and infant training mannequins.

What a great way to connect what students are reading to important real-life skills! ❤️🖤

Congratulations to the FTB football team on a 44–0 victory over rival CMS! The Blackhawks had huge contributions from both the offensive and defensive lines, with a great team effort all around.

Who knew Pringles could be used for science? 🥔🔬

Mrs. Herrington’s 6th grade science students took learning hands-on in the Lit Lab as they worked together to build **Pringles Rings**—freestanding rings made entirely out of Pringles!

This fun challenge put students’ problem-solving, teamwork, and engineering skills to the test. Check out their creations! 👏

What a great first full week at FTB!

Our students jumped right into learning, connecting, and creating. From problem-solving and collaboration in math, to hands-on exploration in science, to finding their voices and making music together in choir—our classrooms are already full of energy and excitement!

We’re so proud of the way our students and staff have started the year and can’t wait to see what the weeks ahead will bring. Here’s to a fantastic year of learning, growing, and making memories together!

FTB FFA is wrapping up their State Convention in Blacksburg, VA!

Our chapter was recognized for:
⭐️ 100% Membership
⭐️Superior Chapter
⭐️Silver National Chapter Rating

All members competed in various middle school contests such as AG mechanics, small animal care, food & fiber, and FFA quiz bowl.

Congratulations to Cora Husch for placing first in the Central Area for Jr. Prepared Public Speaking!

Additionally, Lissa Ardon Correa placed 2nd in the State Spanish Creed contest and will be representing FTB at National Convention this Fall!

A huge thank you for VA FFA for a great convention.

Notice: Please be advised that there will be law enforcement training at Floyd T Binns Middle School next week, Monday, June 8 through Friday June 12, 2026 during the hours of 8am to 5pm. The school office will be open, but we advise calling ahead if you plan to come to the school.

Virginia State Police and the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office will be conducting the training and it does not involve CCPS.

💙📚 Giving back to our youngest learners!

On Friday, May 1, a group of NJHS students and officers visited Sycamore Park Elementary School to deliver the Busy Boxes they have been working hard to create. Students also spent time reading with and playing games alongside kindergarteners, making the visit extra special.

The Busy Boxes included school supplies and classroom tools such as markers, crayons, pencils, folders, notebooks, coloring books, reading books, and fidget tools for teachers to use with their students.

What began as a project started by Ava Morris last fall grew into a collaborative NJHS effort that successfully provided a Busy Box for every kindergarten classroom at SPES.

We are so proud of our students for demonstrating leadership, service, and kindness in our community! 👏
